Upload WordPress theme on host server without using FTP

If you are struggling to upload new WordPress theme for your WordPress blog, this post is for you. If you want to upload new theme and if you don’t have facility to upload from ftp, use extract option for zip file at your web host.

Just do followings

1. Zip the wordpress theme folder.
2. Upload this zipped file to your /public_html/wp-content/themes/
3. Unzip your zipped file of theme. This facility of unzipping the zipped file at web server is available with most of the web host.
4. This method is also applicable if you want to upgrade your theme without changing theme properties to retain your tweaks of your blog.

Many web hosts have fantastico. Use fantastico, it will be easy for you to install wordpress blog by fantastico, you can make your blog in a single click without bothering about database and programs.

If you don’t have basic idea how to work with files at your web host, you will be
in trouble if you want to tweak or update your blog. It’s better to learn some html and web tools.
Other important thing you should do is to save xml backup to all of your post before upgrading or changing. If you loose everything during installation, just make new blog blog and upload your backup xml file. If you have xml back up file you can do all experiments with your blog. At any time you will be able to get same blog as it was before by using backup xml file. So don’t be afraid in upgrading or changing your blog.
