There are two stage of Skill test in SSC exam for stenographer:
In first stage candidate are required to write down the Speech. Someone will read the written text at the speed of 100 word per minute (w.p.m) for Hindi/English for 10 minute, i.e. he will speak 1000 word in 10 minute, you have to listen the word and you need to write it in your note book. If you write in normal way, you may not be able to write it completely. To write the speech in fast way you need to use the technique called “Shorthand”.
No body except you is going to read the note written by you. The text, that you have written in your notebook from listening is going to be used in second stage of Skill test.
In second Stage, you need to type the text that you have written in your notebook.
Suppose you have written all the 1000 word in your notebook. You need to type it in the time given below
For Stenographer Grade ‘D’
in 50 minutes ( English ) – i.e the maximum typing speed requirement is 20 wpm (20 word per minute).
in 65 minutes ( Hindi )- i.e the maximum typing speed requirement is 16 wpm ( 16 word per minute).
For Stenographer Grade ‘C’
40 minutes ( English )- i.e the maximum typing speed requirement is 25 wpm (25 word per minute).
55 Minutes ( Hindi ) – i.e the maximum typing speed requirement is 19 wpm (19 word per minute).
You need to select only one language for the skill test exam for SSC (either English or Hindi).
The skill test exam is only qualifying type, i.e. the marks obtained in the skill test will not be counted in the final marks.
