If you are thinking that domain testing is only used by domain registrar, you are wrong. Any people can make money from domain testing.

Domain testing is the basic facility given to any domain registrar by which they can register any website for five days without paying any money. They do register domain for five days to know the traffic (and also to make money by PPC by parking it for 5 days). If they found that domain have sufficient traffic to recover registration fee in one year, registrar registers that domain name by themselves. They just park that domain and makes money from ppc.

Suppose you know that xyz.com (example) is expired domain or is not registered at any time. You want to register it and make money from parking it because you guessed that there is some traffic for this domain.

If your calculation of traffic of xyz.com is wrong, you may loose money by not recovering registration cost for domain in one year. To avoid loss you may want to know the actual traffic of the domain xyz.com so that you can make decision to register or not the domain xyz.com .You just say your registrar to “test the domain xyz.com”. For this you have to pay few amount. After paying amount, registrar will register domain for domain testing. You will be able to know the actual traffic and you can decide whether or not you should register the domain xyz.com for parking.

Most of the registrars deny domain testing for you because by domain testing their reputation decreases. Excessive domain testing can cause cancellation of their ICANN certificate.
