August 17, 2007

I am giving you the method by which you can download video from Megavideo.com

  • After watching full video at your browser, go at Tools> internet options> settings> view files (For IE, or search tmp file)
  • You will get a large size file with long name and unknown type there.
  • Copy and paste that file at desktop, this file is the video file in flv format
  • Rename it with flv extension, example 34.flv
  • play and enjoy video at your PC with flv player
  • If you don’t have flv player download it, it is freely available at lots of website, like http://applian.com/flvplayer/
  • If you want to convent it in other format you can also convert it by free converter.
  • Remember video at these website is available in only FLV format, there is no other method except this to download directly in other format.
  • If you are unable to find FLV file at your PC after waching video, you can use website to get FLV file like kej.tw/flvretriever .

    if i can’t watching full video?can i download it?
  2. Giridhar on August 18th, 2007 2:45 pm
No, because you will not get movie file in tmp folder if you dont watch full video. Watching full video means downloading full video in FLV format at tmp folder. this is same as you can not download only half mp3 song.

Firefox users, just go at this folder- D:(or C:)\Documents and Settings\ADMIN(your Admin login)\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles (one by one), click single folder there, you will get folder “Cache”. Click on it. You will find lots of unknown type files in this folder. One file is movie file. To know which one is movie file, arrange files in order of size, largest file should be your movie file. copy that file and paste on desktop. rename it in flv extention. This method is also applicable for youtube video
Important- don’t close the mozilla browser after watching movie.
IE users, who are not able to find video file just go at this folder- D:(or C:)\Documents and Settings\ADMIN(your Admin login)\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
Rememeber, if you watch full video, the video in flv format will be loaded in “tmp folder” or “catch folder”. To check whether or not video is loaded in your computer, just do one thing, Watch full video (first time it will take lot of time to see video because of downloading process). After watching full video, you will get replay button. Even If you disconnect internet connection at this point you can see full video by clicking on reply button. You will see full video without any delay or any downloading sign, it means that video is running from your PC.
You just need to find it.

You can also use keepvid.com to download the video directly.

    (not applicable for Megavideo)

how to download video from megavideo if i’m using safari?
  23. Chris G on January 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm
I was recommended MegaVideo by a friend, because I had a video longer than YouTubes max video length of 10 minutes.

I uploaded the video 2 days ago (that took about 45 minutes). So far so good. It was nice that MegaVideo has a time bar to show time remaining for the upload.

    HOWEVER…

When I goto the link to view the video, it only says:
“This video is currently being converted.”

And it has said that for two days now.

It should somehow let you know how long this is going to take. Even if it said that it would take 4 or 5 business days, I could deal with that, and know that in 4 or 5 days it would be live. As for now, I just don’t know anything. There is nothing on the site that explains, no time code showing estimated time until it is live- Nothing.
I check the link a half-dozen times a day- Nothing.
I send emails to them that don’t get replied to- Nothing.

Their customer service stinks (in all fairness, YouTube certainly doesn’t have any customer service to speak of either).

It has been an extremely frustrating experience. It doesn’t seem like the have the scalable infrastructure in place to handle their volume.

Another site that is good for this is the one I just made :P
http://clipkeeper.co.cc it has support for about 30 different video sites.

It also has video downloader search bars that integrate with both FireFox 2.x and Internet Explorer 7.x-11.x Search Bar feature.

In addition it allows you to add Download links with videos you embed online with a single line of code and no javascript which allows use of the links on MySpace and other sites that do not allow javascript.

I would like to ask. do you have to actually WATCH the video. or can you just pause it and let the megavideo/youtube link completely download (by that i mean let the bar completely fill up).

    Thanks~
  27. Abhinav on July 3rd, 2008 1:55 am
    In Opera 9.5 (Windows Vista)
    C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Opera\Opera\profile\cache6

    In Opera 9.5 (Windows XP)
    C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\cache6

In Opera 9 and earlier (Windows XP)
    C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\cache6

    Dump Opera and use Firefox
