Download or Save Video from Facebook without any software

January 1, 2008

You can download FACEBOOK video easily without using any software. You can get FACEBOOK video from cache folder on your PC. Just follow as bellow

For Internet explorer Browser: If you are using internet explorer browser, watch full video from facebook,

1. After watching full video, go at Tools> internet options> settings> view files

2 You will get a large size file with long name and unknown type there.

3 Copy and paste that file at desktop, this file is the video file in flv format

4 Rename it with flv extension, example 123.flv

5 play and enjoy video at your PC with flv player

If you don’t have FLV player, download free FLV player from here

For FireFox Browser: If you are using FireFox browser, you can get video in FLV format as above in similar manner but at different location, your downloaded video location is -

D:(or C:)> Documents and Settings> ADMIN (your Admin login)> Local Settings >Application Data> Mozilla> Firefox > Profiles (one by one)

Update: For new Firefox version, if you are not able to find “Application Data” after  Local Settings, just  add  “\Application Data” on the address bar at  Local setting folder. Here is the example – check

C:\Documents and Settings\HTC\Local Settings\Application Data

(edit C: and HTC with your harddrive and  admin login name respectively. )

Find and play video same as given here.

Other method for FireFox Users- You can also save and download facebook video by using Greasemonkey. First install and run Greasemonkey as given here. After installing greasemonkey, install this script . The description of Script is here

I was trying to figure out after saving a facebook video and sending it to my email how do I upload it to youtube or to another website?

I agree. The browser method works great. If you use Safari it’s even easier to save Facebook videos. http://www.blakebrannon.com/2007/11/17/how-to-download-videos-from-facebook-actually-any-site-any-file/

no matter how many times i try this it will not work, i go into my internet options, then browsing history settings, view files, but when i get there, none of the files are the video i have tried organizing it by size and by date accessed but i cannot seem to find it, can anyone help me?

I found the file and everything ok, but the file won’t play in flash player. Surely a .flv file is a flash video and should play?

on Mac, Firefox’s cache is $HOME/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles/{Something}/Cache. Big files are usually videos. Rename them to something.flv and open with VLC or another player.

Hi, I found an easy way to download videos from Facebook.com
For example, say you’re watching a video link which is this:
      http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=70409658791
Enough to add the word “down” to the domain:
      http://www.downfacebook.com/video/video.php?v=70409658791
Now load the link. We will be on the download site, showed us a download link you must right click and save link as, save target as, etc.
      It’s that simple!
      Enjoy and share it

If it won’t play in a Flash video player, try using the mp4 extension instead of flv. For example, rename the file as myvideo.mp4. It seems Facebook is now showing videos using MP4, at least on my system.
