Was wandering around a few of the (pre?) university forums earlier today, and I thought it was interesting to see that there’s still the same old arguments going on about which uni’s better, NTU vs SMU, blah blah blah.
I guess I never really thought about it, way back when I applied. I remember that all I knew about SMU was that Stephie was in it and doing well, and it was supposed to be the “ang moh pai” school. Heh. Not very much research done at all! I guess then, as now, I never really believed that which university you chose here would make enough of a difference as to affect what job you were going to get. If you were good, and had the capacity to work for it, you’d do well, and employers would notice that. This is, of course, barring the prestige given to degrees from Oxbridge or the US Ivy League. I somehow doubt that the differences between SMU, NUS and NTU are in that range. (Oh god, and don’t get me started on ‘difference’. That has still yet to be defined to my satisfaction.)
